For Windows 8 fans, life is about to get a lot less painful. Microsoft has released the first major update to its latest operating system, titled simply Windows 8.1. Surely, you want to be able to boot straight to the desktop, enjoy more settings options, and get a much improved keyboard and search experience. You can also change your wallpaper so that the desktop and Live Tile screens match and enjoy a redesigned app store that’s much easier to navigate.
Although it won’t be officially released until the fall, here’s a step-by-step guide for downloading and installing the preview.
1. Go to the Windows 8.1 Preview Page.
Click the “Get it now” link to install an update that will allow you to access Windows 8.1 Preview from the Windows Store.
